The Remonstrant Church recognizes
that it forms part of the wider context of Christian churches and religious
communities, national and international. It shares in the task of ecumenical
co-operation: solidarity among churches in their common service to the
world with its needs.
Through its membership of the World
Council of Churches the Remonstrant Chrurch is acquainted with the
questions and aspirations of Christians from other parts of the world.
In supporting the Council's programmes it seeks to make a contribution,
albeit a modest one, to the creation of a worldwide society of justice
and peace.
Through its membership of the Council of Churches in the Netherlands the Remonstrant Church is linked with the large and smaller Christian churches in the Netherlands. In this context it seeks to share in responsibility for better mutual understanding among the churches and in dealing with the problems of our own society, Through the International Association for Religious Freedom it shares in the growing rapport between undogniatic religious communities from all parts of the world, including groups from other world religions and from tribal religions. Through its membership of the World Alliance of Reformed Churches the Biotherhood makes it clear that it forms part of the family of reformed churches, together in this country with the Dutch Reformed Church and the Reformed Churches in the Netherlands. There is also a great deal of local co-operation. Where possible, Remonstrant congregations take part in a local Council of Churches. Many congregations cooperate intensively with a Mennonite Congregation, with a branch of the Liberal Reformed community or a branch of the Netherlands Protestant Union, or with all three. |
